Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is collectively responsible for the proper governance of the School in accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1996. The Board directs the affairs of the School by defining the School’s vision, mission, ethos, and values; setting goals and developing policies; and monitoring and evaluating the progress of the School. Each member of the Board contributes to robust discussions on the strategic direction and priorities of the School to promote the best interests of MIGS students.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai
Chairperson
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai served as Malaysia’s Health Minister (2008–2013) and Transport Minister (2014–2018), and was the 10th MCA President from 2013 to 2018.
Actively involved with Tunku Abdul Rahman College since the 1990s, he became a council member in 2011 and played a key role in its upgrade to Tunku Abdul Rahman University College in 2012. He was appointed the first Chairman of the TARC Education Foundation in 2013, and later the first Chairman of TAR UC’s Board of Governors in 2014.
Under his leadership, TAR UC was upgraded to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology in 2022, with a 10-year roadmap for academic excellence. He was officially named its first Board Chairman in 2023.
He was also conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Public Health by Campbell University in 2019
Puan Sri Dr. Kalsom Ismail

Dr. Kalsom Ismail is a graduate from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery and received her Master in Science from the University of London. Her academic career evolved through her practicing, lecturing dentistry as well as, researching and presenting a conference paper in Hong Kong. She has been invited to be an external examiner at the University of Singapore. Dr. Kalsom also dedicated time on a sabbatical study at Loma Linda University in the United States on Implantology and Material Science. Her passion for education was the driving force behind the establishment of Mutiara International Grammar School on 8th January 1997. She presides as Executive Chairman of the School. Education and welfare of others remain close to her heart.
Datuk Kenneth Luis

Graduated BEc (Hons) from the University of Malaya in 1975. Served in multiple Malaysian ministries and as Malaysian Ambassador / Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. Currently Secretary General of the United Nations Association, Malaysia and Executive Committee Member of World Federation of United Nations Associations. Conferred the Datukship in 2008 and UNESCO Diploma of Honour in 2010.
Datuk Yee Kong Fatt

Started at Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad, co-founded Weststar Construction Sdn Bhd, and is now Managing Director of Weststar Construction, UkayBuilders, and Asset1. Leading the transformation of the former ISKL property in Ampang into “The Campus”, a neighborhood mall with education, sports, and recreational facilities, in synergy with Mutiara International Grammar School.
Datin Dr Raja Mazuin Raja Abdul Aziz

A veteran in education, Datin Dr Raja Mazuin has extensive experience with the Malaysian Ministry of Education and a deep knowledge of curriculum and instruction. She is currently Head of Quality Management and Integrity at the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia, International Languages Campus, and has served as senior lecturer, master trainer, and consultant.
At the national level, she contributed to the National Transformation Programme for teacher education and the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), and is involved in establishing Malaysia’s Masters programme in teacher education. She is also active in the Malaysian English Language Teaching Association at MIGS.
Dato Aznan bin Jaya

Graduated from Faculty of Laws, International Islamic University, Malaysia with Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1989.
He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor to the High Court of Malaya in 1990.
He is currently the principal partner of Messrs Aznan Jaya & Co. a firm of advocates and solicitors established since 1990 in Kuala Lumpur.
He is also the founder and chairman of Aznan Jaya Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization based in Kuala Lumpur.
He served as chairman of audit committee and member of board of directors of Kanzen Berhad and FACB Berhad, a public listed companies in Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
He also served as a non-executive director of Ballast Nedam Malaysia, a subsidiary of Ballast Nedam International, a public listed company in Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
